Thank a Farmer

Did you know that today, March 25, is National Ag Day?

I won't be surprised if you didn't - I guess focusing on the folks who spend their time feeding the world is to much to ask of most mainstream media types.  I didn't see anything about it on FB today and Google didn't have their letters highlighted with farm related items....as a small farmer in mid-Michigan, still in the grips of bitter blasted cold (its SNOWING here today!) I'm not doing many farm related things either, unless you count plotting ways to get rid of the herd of 30 or so white tail deer who are demolishing our alfalfa ((grrrrr)).  I told Bill again this morning that we might as well turn the sheep loose in the alfalfa fields, better they eat it than the deer.  And yes I know the deer are hungry, yes I know they had a hard winter, blah-blah-blah.

Anyway, I'm getting off-track....I am doing other agriculture things actually.  The chores I do twice a day (sometimes three times a day in this weather) to care for our flock of sheep, the small flock of chickens, make me proud and happy to be an agriculture specialist (grin).  Third and fourth generation here....

I found this blog post interesting, listing eight things you might not know about agriculture.  You might enjoy taking a look.

Happy National Ag Day!
